R U Kidding Me? (The Facebook Song) – Kate Miller Heidke (Live at the Metro, 7th May)

February 18th, 2010

Kate Miller Heidke performing her newly written song at the Metro on the 7th of May. It's called R U Kidding Me? but I'm sure many would recognise it as the Facebook song too. Very amusing.

    All music is open …
All music is open to interpretation, but I don’t think we should assume things about the real story just from the genders in the lyrics. It sounds like she took her ex-boyfriend’s perspective and used it to create a female character who had the same experience, who is in the song.

She did a similar thing in ‘Caught In The Crowd’; apparently ‘James’ was really Kate and the narrator was someone she knew.

Anyway, it’s a great song! So funny. :D

    It is not written …
It is not written from the guy’s perspective to her. I mean, one of the lines is calling him a “nasty, nasty man”.

    My sister was going …
My sister was going to go to see her play with Ben Folds with her boyfriend but she couldn’t go that day.. He still went though. This isn’t my taste of music (at all) but I still like this song and there’s no denying how awesome her voice is.
and I think she just gave up thinking of an adjective for the last line so she just said “you fucking fuck” lol

  8. theclaw195 Says:

    Did you read what …
Did you read what he just said? She said it in a radio interview. I’m sorry not every situation works out the way you like it; making men seem like the bad guys, haha, but if you’re an ignorant bitchy neo-feminist than that’s going to happen. A lot.
    Equality power!
BTW, technically she’s not singing for “you girls.” Think about it as long as you like until it clicks.

  9. FlyKitesInTheRain Says:
